Namgis (Nimpkish) Burial Grounds The Namgis (or Nimpkish) Burial Grounds is an old native cemetery. It is one of the few places in coastal British Columbia where memorial totem poles remain in their original location. Carvings on the totem poles show the family's crests. The grounds are not open for the public, but the totem poles are easy to see from the road. The burial grounds are located at Alert Bay on Cormorant Island, which is accessed by ferry from Port McNeill, Vancouver Island. Address: . Alert Bay BC Canada
