    T'sasala Cultural Group
T'sasala is a group of dancers who perform traditional Kwakwaka'wakw dances representing various tribes within their language cluster. The dances and songs have been performed the same way from the beginning of the culture and this preservation is kept with Elder approval. In July and August these performances can be seen from Thursday to Saturday at 1 pm in the Alert Bay Big House. Special performances can be arranged.

    Namgis (Nimpkish) Burial Grounds
The Namgis (or Nimpkish) Burial Grounds is an old native cemetery. It is one of the few places in coastal British Columbia where memorial totem poles remain in their original location. Carvings on the totem poles show the family's crests. The grounds are not open for the public, but the totem poles are easy to see from the road. The burial grounds are located at Alert Bay on Cormorant Island, which is accessed by ferry from Port McNeill, Vancouver Island.
